Carla Eastis
Carla Eastis, Ph.D.
Dr. Carla Eastis serves as director of the First-Year and Transitions Program office. She has been at UNC Charlotte since 2013. Before joining Niner Nation, Dr. Eastis was a sociology professor at Catawba College. At Catawba, she worked with first-year and honors students in addition to sociology majors, and credits these experiences with her interest in all things related to the transition to college.
In addition to supporting and supervising the staff members who direct the various FYTP programs, her position involves assessment and planning, faculty development, and curriculum design.
Dr. Eastis holds a Ph.D. in sociology from Yale University, and a B.A. in political science from New College of Florida. Outside of work, you can find her at artsy events all over Charlotte, or telling a story on stage.
